Royal Monastery of Santa Clara
Description
Founded by the Franciscans in the 13th century, it is one of the oldest convents in the city. It is famous because Queen Isabel "the Catholic" slept there in 1489, when she was on her way to sign the agreement in Baza for the "Conquest of Granada". From such a distinguished stay, the cell in which the queen slept is still preserved, along with some of her personal items given to the community as a token of gratitude for the hospitality of Úbeda. You can also find its open Nun''s Turnstile, where traditional homemade sweets can be purchased.
