Church and Convent of the Most Holy Trinity

Church and Convent of the Most Holy Trinity

Úbeda , Jaén Civil building

Description

16th-18th centuries. Baroque. On the exterior, the ornamentation is centered on the facades, with large moldings that are set back and form volutes with representative images of the Holy Trinity and Saint John of Matha. The interior of the church is covered by a barrel vault with lunettes, and a dome with scallops over pendentives, filled with magnificent pictorial and sculptural decoration. The use of Solomonic columns in the interior windows is noteworthy, used here for the first time and representing, once again, a rare example of Baroque. Next to the church is the convent, of which parts of two cloisters are preserved.
