House of the Morales
Description
Casa de los Morales or "del ahorcado". Classified as a 2nd degree heritage site by the PEPCH. 17th century. Renaissance style. Currently houses social housing. A simple construction, an example of the abundant houses of the 16th century, which extend into the following century. However, it is more attractive due to the evocation of the dramatic history that surrounds it. Origin of many literary works from the 19th century. It is said that a knight was punished with hanging there, directly by King Pedro I, for kidnapping a maiden who had already been promised to Pedro Gil. It is also said that it could have been the seat of the Holy Inquisition.
