Church of Santo Domingo
Description
13th-16th centuries. Currently the headquarters of the Union of Brotherhoods. Its origin is not precisely known, as we are dealing with a building where different periods and styles coexist. There are preserved medieval proto-Gothic remains typical of fortress-churches on the north facade. The current space, however, was rebuilt in the 15th century in Gothic-Mudejar style. Additionally, its portals are Renaissance, and the southern one is in the Plateresque style. This last one is perhaps the most notable for being the first in its style, and also for its quality. It features the coats of arms of the founding bishop. The tower was rebuilt later in the year 1702. It served as a parish until 1848 when it became the property of the Orozco family. However, it remained open until the year 1936 when it was closed, then being used as a storage for thrones and workshop.
