Church of San Pedro
Description
San Pedro Church. Classified as a 2nd degree monument in the PEPCH. It dates from the 13th-17th centuries. It holds great historical value as it is one of the oldest parishes in the city, rebuilt in the 14th century, preserving the original polygonal apse. It has undergone several interventions, such as the addition of the Renaissance facade by Vandelvira's disciple, Alonso de Barba, in the year 1605-1605. It is possible that in its origins it was a mosque converted to Christian worship after the conquest. In the mid-19th century, the parish was relegated to Santa María. Inside (rebuilt several times), it has a single nave, a barrel vault, a lowered dome, and side chapels in Gothic style.
