Ruins of the Convent of La Merced
Description
Dating back to the 16th century, only the remains of a Renaissance door attached to a wall section next to the church of San Millán are left. It was founded in the 13th century by lay knights of the Order of the Mercedarian Redeemers with the mission of ransoming captives during the conquest of Úbeda by Fernando III. After the disentailment of Mendizábal, it was closed along with other ecclesiastical properties in 1836.
