Úbeda - Heritage City
Description
Úbeda is an artistic and monumental city, and one of the most stately and glorious towns in Andalusia. Its most notable splendor took place between the 16th and 17th centuries. The Renaissance strongly marked most of the city's architecture. The many monuments that were built during that time are still buildings that we can continue to enjoy today. The Vázquez de Molina Square is the greatest exponent of this Renaissance display. It constitutes the center of the VUE area (of Exceptional Universal Value), a space that led UNESCO to grant us the title of WORLD HERITAGE CITY in 2003. The spaciousness of the square and the distribution of the many surrounding monuments are not common. Accompanying these monuments are a magnificent Renaissance fountain, and several areas of trees and gardens. Strolling through Úbeda will give us the opportunity to find corners and squares surrounded by magnificent buildings and monuments, which will allow us to greatly enjoy the walk and rest on a terrace while we regain our strength.
