Archaeological Museum - Mudéjar House

Archaeological Museum - Mudéjar House

Úbeda , Jaén Museum

Description

BIC (Site of Cultural Interest). Built in the Mudejar architectural style, it originally served as a residence and is now home to the Archaeological Museum of Úbeda. This house was built in the 15th century and is considered the finest example of preserved Mudejar domestic architecture in Úbeda, although its discovery was entirely by chance. Most of the items on display come from both donations and excavations carried out in the province.

The material that has gradually expanded the collection comes from the city itself, specifically from excavations of the old courthouses, the old city walls, the Eras del Alcázar, or the Mudejar House itself, which houses the Museum. To these are added finds from nearby sites such as Úbeda la Vieja (ancient Salaria), Arroyo de la Dehesa, and Doña Aldonza’s farmhouse, to name but a few.
