Jewish Houses on Gradeta de Santo Tomás Street

Jewish Houses on Gradeta de Santo Tomás Street

Úbeda , Jaén Public space

Description

Listed as grade 4 by the PEPCH, these two buildings constitute an exceptional testimony of the housing typology that the Jewish community who inhabited Úbeda since medieval times occupied. Converted Jews lived in these buildings between the 15th and 16th centuries, as evidenced by the motifs carved in stone on both doorways. The most repeated motifs are the Star of David or magical symbol of Solomon, formed by the union of two triangles.
